Who You Are

  • 7-10 years of experience trimming, cutting, and/or sewing high-quality leather interiors and trim for Automotive, Aerospace, and/or Marine applications
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of leather work, sewing, and automotive upholstery techniques
  • Certification and/or technical automotive program graduate, preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Team oriented, with a strong ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
  • Possess excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines to meet deadlines
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds

What You’ll Do

The Upholstery Specialist is responsible for sewing/stitching all vehicle interiors, including but not limited to leather, cloth fabric, and carpet for seats, panels, headliners, dashboards, center consoles, etc. This includes aiding in the design and fabrication necessary to execute custom pieces.

  • Operates an industrial grade sewing machine, installs thread, winds bobbin, cleans and oils the machine, and makes adjustments to the machine for different fabric thicknesses
  • Use various tools to apply trim to high end upholstered automotive furniture
  • Auto interior removal, teardown/rebuilding and installation
  • Foam cushion cutting and shaping
  • Measure, cut, stretch, and fasten coverings to frames
  • Install leather, carpet, or cloth coverings on a variety of parts and panels
  • Sewing all interiors, carpets, headliners, and miscellaneous leather pieces according to the build specification
  • Cutting all leather for specific cars, as well as foam, carpet, headliner, and sound insulation according to the build specification
  • Hand-sewing decorative interior panels
  • Assembles various finished components to complete sub-assemblies
  • Assist in creating patterns as requested for raw parts as required
  • Prepares raw parts for trimming in leather, cloth, or carpet as required
